Conference papers are now available from the 'Papers' tab to the left.
The 2007 Symposium was a highly successful event with attendance in excess of 300 delegates over the three days.
The Child and Family Welfare Association of Australia in collaboration with PeakCare Qld Inc were proud to co-host the biennial practice symposium at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This world class venue hosted a dynamic three day program providing delegates from around Australia with a high quality, yet affordable, professional opportunity.
The symposium theme challenged delegates to explore the diverse and complex needs of children, young people and their families and how best to meet these needs in the contemporary context. Working with such complex and intense needs can be overwhelming for all those involved, sometimes leading to a loss of hope for the future. If workers are to aspire to excellence in practice we must find ways of maintaining and developing hope in ourselves and those we work with.
The symposium provided the opportunity to:
- Learn from international and national keynote speakers who are experts in their field and have the ability to translate their knowledge into practice based learning.
- Experience national, professional training and development, bringing together experts in the field to explore evidence based practice approaches with practitioners, managers, carers and young people.
- Attend intensive workshops to learn about innovative practice approaches that challenge how we work with children, young people and their families.
- Inspire and recharge the practice of individual workers, managers and organisations.
- Share learning from across Australia for the collective benefit of children, young people and families.
